Change of Payment Terms
Because of a change in our advertisers’ operations and our accounting system for sending payments, we have adjusted our payment terms to 30 calendar days. This will allow us to send payments on schedule and prevent many of the headaches that have come with our rather complicated current payment system. It is our sincere hope that this doesn’t inconvenience any of our users, but rather makes everyone’s life a great deal easier. Thank you for your understanding, and thank you for continuing to help shareapic grow and become the best monetized image sharing community in the world ![]()
Important Notice Regarding Payout Process
Because someone hacked 3 different accounts and requested payouts to a rogue email address, we have made a change to the payment process. You will no longer be able to request a payout to any other email account than the one you entered during the sign-up process. You will also no longer be able to change your email entered in the sign-up process.
This is to protect you and your payouts. I hope you all understand that this is the best option to deal with the current situation. Feel free to reply if you feel it necessary. Feedback is always appreciated.
NOTE: If your paypal email and signup email are different, you have two options:
A. Create a second paypal account with your signup email
B. Add your sign-up email account as an alternate email in your existing paypal account. If you choose this option, follow these steps:
1. Log in to paypal
2. Click on “profile”
3. Click on “email”
4. Click on “Add”
5. Enter your shareapic signup email (listed on your shareapic “edit profile” page on the right side - THIS EMAIL MUST BE VALID)
6. You can now confirm the signup email and receive payments to the same account from your paypal email AND your signup email if they are different
Uploading is back!
Just got it up and running again. If anyone finds any bugs, please report them here.
Thanks for your patience during the update!
New feature added: “More from user”
Go take a look at the right side of your individual pic pages and tell me what you think :) Hopefully, this will greatly increase image views for everyone!
IMPORTANT Bidvertiser update
I just discovered today that Bidvertiser will not accept your ad in the format http://www.shareapic.net/YOURUSERNAME/
This must be changed to http://www.shareapic.net/users/YOURUSERNAME/ immediately so Bidvertiser doesn’t penalize the whole site.
It is fairly easy to do this, just add another Bidvertiser site in your Bidvertiser control panel and include the new URL. I have updated the tutorial in your members area.
IMPORTANT: After adding the new SAP URL in Bidvertiser, members should remember to go to their Shareapic members page to enter the new ad code from Bidvertiser as it will have a different number on the end.
Thanks for your cooperation and understanding in this matter ![]()
Bidvertiser now LIVE!
Bidvertiser is now live on all image pages and you can add your own Bidvertiser code via your members area. Just click on the Bidvertiser tab in the members area menu and follow the tutorial I put together
Thank you all for your patience.. it has taken a while to find a new advertiser since Adsense ditched us for (seemingly) no reason. Anyways, Bidvertiser is good to go, so go sign up, grab your code and get to earning!
Servers finally arriving!
The 4 new servers are finally arriving at our datacenter today and hopefully our awesome server admin Javier will be installing them tonight. There have been delays getting the machines this week because of storms in the northeast US; luckily we got a bit of a weather-break today.
Thank you all for your patience.. I know the site has been painfully slow lately due to all the traffic you all send it!! After the servers are installed, it will take some time to configure them for maximum site speed. We are going to try to do this asap so the site will be back up to max speed very soon.
P.S. If you haven’t submitted your best pic to the April featured pic contest yet, go submit one in the forum
Speed coming soon.. 4 servers on the way!
Yes, that’s right, we’re finally going to double our computing power and install 4 brand new, extremely powerful servers!! We should have them all by the end of this week (due to shipping time) and they should be installed by early next week.
Having these new servers will allow us to dedicate machines specifically to certain tasks, causing the site to speed up dramatically. I know it’s been a little rough-going lately because we’re getting so many visitors thanks to our awesome members. However, the new servers should solve the slowness problem and get things back up to speed ![]()
Change is upon us…
Hey loyal shareapic-ers! In an effort to alleviate our current server load, and speed up the site, we are going to make a change. Starting very soon, we will be displaying a downsized pic (max 600px wide) on each of your picture pages. When you mouseover this downsized pic, there will be a little tooltip that says “zoom in.” When you click zoom in, it will open the full size pic in a new window. We are doing this for a number of reasons:
- The big imagehosts like flickr do this for a reason: to save bandwidth. The reason being this… a lot of people that come to the site don’t zoom in, they just want to see the picture. So, to force them to flip through all full size pictures does nothing but increase load time. However, for people how want to see HQ and UHQ pics, we will still give them the option to zoom in.
- This will save us about 50% on bandwidth costs, which will allow us to spend more on servers and will allow us to lean more toward a possible CPM increase in the future (keeping to our word that we will never lower the CPM, only raise it when we think we can.)
- This will reduce server load by about 30-40%, which will allow our current servers to run faster again. That coupled with new servers = super high speed!
I hope you all understand that we are doing this because it is the best possible solution to many problems. As always, feel free to post comments below ![]()
Flash widget updated for Myspace, Blogs…
A while back, Myspace and some blogs stopped allowing outbound links from flash objects imbedded in their pages. This was due to a large worm that was flash based and did some internal damage to Myspace. To get around this issue, we have partnered with widgetbox to provide you with an alternative widget imbed code that will work in Myspace, Facebook, Blogger, etc.
To access to the new code, generate your widget in your members area, then click on the new widgetbox link to get your code. Man, do we love our members or what?! ![]()
